From Tableau to Power BI: what we learnt from 1,000 reports and eleven months.

We have just completed this move at Telefónica Germany: 1,000 reports from 300 employees analysed, cleaned up and migrated to Power BI. In eleven months, without interrupting day-to-day operations.

Migrations stall at two points: at the start, when everything is moved blindly, and at the end, when the in-house team is left out. So we begin with an assessment of the estate and stay until your team runs the platform itself.

We survey your Tableau landscape: which workbooks are used, which are copies, what does the estate cost? The result is a migration plan with a clear scope, waves and deadlines, and an honest figure for what the switch saves. Only then do you decide.

In waves, alongside day-to-day business
The target architecture is built right once: OneLake and Lakehouse as the foundation, permissions governed centrally, deployments automated. Then the reports move in waves, the most complex first, each wave signed off by the business. Old and new world run in parallel until the numbers match.
Enable
Enablement, hypercare, switch-off
Tableau developers become Power BI developers in the project, side by side with us. On the agreed date Tableau is switched off, the licence ends and your team runs the platform. We stay as long as you need us and then hand over in good order.

The fact-based inventory at a fixed price: usage, duplicates, data sources and costs of your Tableau landscape. You receive a migration plan with scope, waves and deadlines and are free to decide who implements it.
Target architecture on Microsoft Fabric
Moving reports alone means migrating again in five years. We build the foundation right once: OneLake and Lakehouse, a central framework for permissions, cost control for capacities. That keeps the platform manageable after the migration, for the business and in operation.
Translation instead of copy
Tableau and Power BI think differently: calculation logic, extracts and permissions do not translate word for word. We translate the patterns rather than the formulas and take on the most complex dashboards ourselves, so the rest becomes routine.
Enablement
A migration is finished when it runs without us: with a team that understands the platform, and a Tableau licence nobody has to renew.
A tidy backend
The move clears out legacy: data copies, shadow extracts and duplicate artefacts are consolidated. What remains is one data estate in OneLake: lean, traceable and ready for AI.

Your developers migrate the real estate with us in every wave. Knowledge grows where it belongs: in your team.
Operations and hypercare
After every wave and after the switch-off we stay close: we monitor usage and run times, clear legacy and stabilise until the new world feels normal.
